OUR STORY
In 2013 our Founder John Macquin began our wheels for a slum outreach program, this is a program based on providing free wheelchairs to the most vulnerable person with disability both in rural/urban and prison facilities.
This program was used as a first step to bring together all the disadvantaged disabled community and offering training on life skills such as hygiene and sanitation, vocational training and other related topics such as leadership skills to help influence change.

WSDC continues its focus and commitment to becoming a leading provider of free wheelchairs in Kenya both in slums and prisons and beyond. By placing our beneficiaries in wheelchairs, we bring about transformation that opens doors to self-employment, accessible education, and a community, that the beneficiaries /individual only dreamed of before receiving the gift of mobility
Wheelchairs for Special Disabled Children is a charitable non-profit making organization that was founded in 2013 by John Macquin and later registered with the Ministry of East Africa , Community Labour and Social Protection under the Department office as a community-based organization [CBO] and its registration number is RUA/CBO/5/4/2018.
WSDC is committed to supporting the most vulnerable children, youths including men and women living with a disability within the slums of Korogocho and beyond by mobilizing the Gift of Mobility [Wheelchairs].
WSDC advocate for inclusive and accessible education by actively connecting the committed disabled community with powerful ideas. We work together to make a positive deep-rooted and lasting changes in children, youth, men and women lives, we place a specific focus on children with disability in our community by providing wheelchairs and of course education to claim and free them from poverty and live positive fulfilling lives.
Our vision is to empower the differently able.
We achieve our vision by training girls and women with a disability on hygiene and sanitation, wheelchair mobilization and
advocating for inclusive education and accessible public toilets.
