Wsdc works closely with the most vulnerable and less fortunate within the community, those who cannot afford wheelchairs. Our main objective is to make sure that they have wheelchairs so we always partner with other organizations, NGOs, Individuals and corporates that can provide free wheelchairs to those within our community by doing so we act as a bridge between the donor and the beneficiary. but we came to realize that wheelchairs are not the solution but part of solution t
WSDC work closely with the prison in Kenya to help ensure inmates with disability have appropriate access to programs and services, by providing basic training to prison officials in order to work with inmates with disabilities. We have two Educational programs in prison facilities supporting the management of inmates with disabilities and access to toilets and latrines to improve hygiene
We help train prison staff in handling inmates using mobility aids and help introduce assistive devices such as wheelchairs.
It's very important for the inmates with disabilities to feel they are part of the prison fraternity so always have sessions to train on how to manage inmates with a disability.
WSDC work also in prison facilities to advocate for inclusive and accessible toilets, we work closely with our partner's from SYNA consultancy agencies who have experience in issues related to hygiene and sanitation
Our new activity addressed Economic empowerment. We seek to empower disabled people over 18 with small business ideas. We have partnered with the Kilimanjaro Blind Trust Africa to train people with disabilities n writing a business plan, business management and other aspects related to creating and running a successful business.
WSDC have been working closely with Syna consultancy a social enterprise that is dedicated to providing equitable and inclusive sanitation solutions that are safe , dignified and sustainable sanitation solutions for the most marginalized person's with disability therefore WSDC works as a bridge between person's with disability and Syna consultancy.
We also provide sanitary towels to girls in schools especially special school and engage them in a hygiene and sanitation and how to handle the towel hygienically
More details on our exciting project with Global symbols to help train families to use AAC to follow. We aim to provide introductory training to young mothers and families in how to use low cost tools to communicate with a disabled child
